Real gear. Real testing. No magic five-star wand.
Product reviews at Pages of Wisdom
Andrew reviews useful physical products the way regular people actually use them: at home, in real projects, and without requiring an engineering degree to understand the results.
Companies can introduce a product for consideration, and readers can suggest gear they want to see tested. Reviews may include a YouTube video and a written article here, with the good, the bad, and the “why did they put that button there?”

A good fit matters
A review opportunity is not an automatic acceptance. The product needs to fit the site and offer something useful to test and explain.

A real Pages of Wisdom project: Andrew’s ground-mounted home solar array.
What stays off the workbench
No software, apps, downloads, subscriptions, or other digital-only products. This page is for physical gear.
For safety, Andrew does not accept anything likely to carry a virus or malware. Do not send USB drives, memory cards, or devices containing sender-loaded software, documents, or other files. New gear should arrive from a trusted manufacturer or retailer in sealed retail packaging, with no preloaded files. If a device needs an app or firmware, Andrew will obtain it from the manufacturer’s official source when appropriate.
If a product arrives opened, has an unexpected storage device, or asks him to run unfamiliar supplied software, it will not be plugged in or tested. A mysterious free gadget is fun; a mysterious free malware infection is not.
How a review works
- Start with a conversation.
Use our contact form. For a company inquiry, put Business or sponsorship in the subject. Include the product name, model, official product link, key features, intended audience, and why it fits Pages of Wisdom. - Agree on the details before shipping.
We’ll discuss the product, review format, shipping, and returns up front. If a company needs the item returned, that arrangement and who pays return shipping must be agreed before it is sent. Otherwise, items may be kept for continued testing or donated, as discussed in advance. Do not send unexpected products. - Use it in the real world.
Andrew tests accepted products hands-on at home or in a relevant project. That can include setup, everyday usability, build quality, and how well the product handles its intended job—not just reading the box aloud. - Share the useful findings.
A review may include a video on the Pages of Wisdom YouTube channel and a written article on this site. The goal is to explain who the product suits, what it does well, where it falls short, and what a buyer should know.
Free gear never buys a glowing verdict
Receiving a product for review does not guarantee coverage, a positive review, or a particular conclusion. Andrew does not sell positive verdicts.
- Reviews include honest pros and cons based on the testing experience.
- When a product is provided free, on loan, or otherwise supplied by a company, that relationship will be clearly disclosed in the review.
- A company may correct factual product details, but it does not get editorial control over the verdict.
- Any sponsorship or affiliate relationship will also be disclosed. Readers should never have to guess how a review came about.
For companies: let’s see if it’s a fit
Pages of Wisdom speaks to everyday Americans interested in solar, emergency preparedness, practical technology, and useful gadgets. Andrew’s approach is hands-on and plain-English: show what the product does, explain why it matters, and skip the spec-sheet fog.
What to include in your inquiry

What to expect
A straightforward discussion about fit and logistics before anything ships. If accepted, the review will focus on genuine hands-on use and clear disclosures. Coverage, timing, and format are agreed case by case; sending a product does not obligate Andrew to publish.
No surprise boxes, please. Confirm the delivery address only after Andrew agrees to consider the product.
Quick questions, straight answers
Does a free product guarantee a positive review?
No. It does not guarantee a review at all. If Andrew covers it, the pros, cons, and conclusion will be his own, and the free product will be disclosed.
Can a company approve the review before publication?
A company can help correct factual details such as a model number or specification. It cannot require a positive verdict or take editorial control of the review.
Do you review apps, software, or digital downloads?
No. The review program described on this page is for physical products. Apps, software, digital-only products, and sender-loaded files are not accepted.
Who pays for shipping and returns?
We’ll discuss returns up front, including whether the product is a loan and who pays each shipping cost. Please do not ship until those details are agreed.
Can readers suggest a product?
Absolutely. Use our contact form with Product review suggestion as the subject and include a link to the product. Reader suggestions help Andrew find useful gear, though he cannot promise to test every suggestion.
Have something worth testing?
Companies: use our contact form with the subject Business or sponsorship. Readers: use Product review suggestion and send the product link.
Product submissions are reviewed for fit and safety before acceptance. Please do not send products without prior agreement.
